What are the hours and when should I call?

Equifax operates the call center for this 877-474-8273 phone number 24 hours, 7 days. The short answer is that you should call on a Wednesday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 31,300 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this Equifax phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like Equifax staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

The least busy day to call Equifax is Wednesday. The most busy day to call is Monday. Again, this is based on a sample of 31,300 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

The shortest wait on hold

We measured the shortest hold times to be on Monday. The longest wait in the queue on average occurs on Wednesday.

The best time to call

In summation, the best day to call Equifax is Wednesday. This is not the day with the shortest wait on hold in the phone system, but we still recommend it for its ideal combination of low call volume and short hold times. Plus we believe that Equifax staffs the call center well on Wednesday.

Calling this Equifax Customer Number

There are several reasons one might call Equifax's customer service number. For example, an individual might learn that they have negative information on their credit report and contact Equifax to correct it. Equifax also provides credit monitoring and other services that consumers find helpful. I called their 877-474-8273 customer service number to determine how much credit monitoring would cost.

As with most companies' customer service lines, an automated voice response system answered. It thanked me for calling Equifax Global Consumer Solutions. It allowed me to choose to hear the information in Spanish if needed. After taking me through a menu of options to get help with fraud alerts, disputes and other issues, the system prompted me again to make a selection. I decided that rather than make a choice, I would continue holding to see if that would get me to an agent, and it worked. The system connected me with an agent.

A friendly agent greeted me with, "Thank you for calling Equifax." I asked her how much it costs to get credit monitoring. She told me she could set up the service if I had a promo code (due to a data breach). I did not have a promo code. Without a promo code, she said I would need to pay for the monitoring. She told me I could get complete monitoring for $19.00 per month and that I needed to create an account on Equifax. She also told me I could sign up for the service online. Once we completed our business, I thanked her for her help and ended the call.

This call may have gone longer had I selected a specific option. Based on my experience with customer service lines, it made no sense to me to stay on the line, listening to another lengthy menu. I took my chances, and a customer service associate answered.

Overall, I would rate my experience with this Equifax customer service number above average. Rather than hanging up in the middle of the call, the system connected me to a human who provided the information I needed. Since my question was straightforward, the agent did not need to collect my personal information. She asked me one question, and when that situation did not apply, she advised me of my options. I appreciated the agent's directness and efficiency after the initial encounter with the voice response system. I wouldn't have been as happy with the results if I stayed in the automated menu loop.
