Ally Bank offers vehicle financing via timed payments through its Ally Auto service. This same service also lets you cancel any scheduled payments with the bank at any time by following a few simple steps through its Ally Auto Mobile app.
Ally Bank offers its Ally Auto vehicle financing service to let clients finance vehicle purchases on nearly any budget. If you're a customer of Ally Auto, you might, however, at some point need to cancel an auto payment for reasons of your own. Fortunately, Ally Bank makes this fairly easy with a specific set of simple steps. Let's break down what these are.
Canceling an Auto Payment with Ally Bank
Before you can cancel your auto payment, you'll need to have the Ally Auto Mobile app downloaded to your phone and activated with your account. You can download the app for iPhone through the Apple App Store, or for Android phones through Google Play Store.
Once you've downloaded the app, you can use your Ally online banking credentials to log in to Ally Auto for mobile too.
If you've already done the above, here are your steps for canceling an auto payment with the Ally Auto app:
1. Log into your Ally Auto app, tap on "Payments", then once there tap on "Transactions" from the menu options.
2. Under transactions, you should select the "Edit Payment Details" option if you just want to edit a payment. If you want to cancel a payment, tap "Cancel Payment".
3. You'll be asked to confirm your Ally Auto payment cancellation or payment edits and once you confirm, you're done. However, there are a few further timing details you should keep in mind:
If you have a payment scheduled for the same day on which you're trying to cancel it, payments scheduled before 3 PM ET (Eastern Time) can be canceled any time before 3 PM; Payments scheduled for between 3 and 6 PM can only be canceled before 6 PM, and expected payments for between 6 and 11 PM can only be canceled before 11 PM ET.
For any payments scheduled for after 11 PM, their charges will be applied before 3 PM the next day, and you can cancel these during the same time frame.
It's also worth mentioning that you can only cancel payments that you yourself scheduled according to Ally Bank policies.
