Introduction

Modern cell phones are pretty durable, relatively speaking. Unfortunately, they are still all too easily damaged by dropping them or getting them wet. If your Verizon phone has been damaged or destroyed, and if you have the right protection plan, you have options to take care of the problem with a minimum of fuss. You can generally get your phone repaired in a Verizon store, by mailing it in, or by ordering a replacement.

What You'll Need

Your device is insured against damage if you have one of the following device protection packages: Verizon Mobile Protect, Verizon Mobile Protect Multi-Device, Total Equipment Coverage, or Wireless Phone Protection. The Verizon Mobile Protect plan has the most comprehensive coverage. You will be filing a claim with Asurion, the insurance company Verizon uses for its phone protection plans. To file a claim, you must the account owner or an account manager. If you do not have device protection through Verizon but do have it through a third-party insurer, you must contact that insurer directly to file your claim, Verizon has no part in it.You will have to pay a deductible for the repair. Exactly what the deductible is depends on several factors, including what kind of device you have.If your device needs to be replaced, you will still need to pay a deductible, which might be $250 or more.If the damage is just a crack in your glass screen, you might be able to get it repaired for free, depending on the circumstances. If you need a replacement, Asurion will attempt to get you a device that is the same make and model, has the same color, and has the same features as your damaged device. However, if one is not available, it will send you a similar substitute instead.
