How do I cancel an auto payment with Bank of America?

Auto pay is a scheduled transfer from one account (usually a bank account) to a vendor account. With Bank of America, auto pay can save you time and help you avoid late fees. 1. Log in to Online Banking 

Sign in to your Bank of America online banking by entering your user ID and password. Then tap Log In. 

2. Go to the Bill Pay Tab

Click on Manage Accounts on the Bill Pay tab and look for the automatic payment you want to cancel. 

3. Click Stop Auto Pay

Tap on Stop AutoPay and confirm the cancellation. 

4. Send a Letter to Bank of America

You can also cancel auto payments by sending a letter to Bank of America. Be sure to include:

  • Account type and number
  • A clear request to cancel auto pay
  • The effective date of cancellation
  • Your signature

You can also cancel recurring transfers or a future scheduled transfer by calling Bank of America directly. Call the 1-800 number for residential accounts and the 1-866 number for small business accounts. Keep your account information handy, as you'll need it for verification purposes. Bank of America also has an international number if you're located outside of the United States.
