If you have an AT&T phone that you want to unlock, you first need to meet several criteria to be eligible for it. Once you qualify, the unlocking procedure is rather fast and easy.
To be eligible for unlocking, your device must have been purchased at least 60 days ago, it must be fully paid off, it cannot have been reported as being lost or stolen, it cannot have been involved in fraud, and your AT&T bill cannot be past due.Some Apple, Samsung, and Google devices will automatically unlock once they become eligible for unlocking. Before submitting an unlock request, check to see if your device has already been unlocked for you.AT&T Prepaid phones must have been in use for a minimum of 6 months before they can be unlocked.If you are deploying for active duty in the military, you can unlock your device before you have fully paid it off. Just let AT&T know that this is the case when you submit your unlock request and send a copy of your deployment documents via email.With some phones, you will need to enter an unlock code after following the steps below. Your confirmation email will indicate if this is the case.Certain phones will require you to put a non-AT&T SIM card into your phone and restart it to finalize the unlocking process after following the steps below. If it says "SIM locked" then your phone is still locked, and you will need to submit an unlock request. If it doesn't, your phone is already unlocked.
You will be given your phone's IMEI number, which you will need to unlock it.

Within 24 hours of sending the request, AT&T will send you a confirmation email with further instructions.
If you do not click the link within 24 hours, it will expire. You will then have to file a new request if you still want to unlock your phone.
