This phone number no longer works; it was once used to take care of customers who had older television models, but it has since been disconnected. When you dial it, you get an error message saying that your call cannot be completed as dialed, and that you should check the number and try again. I rechecked the number three times, all getting the exact same response.
When I searched Sanyo's website, no mention of this number exists. The only contact number listed was 1-866-212-0436, which remains their main contact number today. Sanyo's website lists no other contact number, only giving customers the option to call that number, e-mail them or conduct a live chat with them.
A deeper search into this number reveals that this was once the number used for customers who had television models dated 2014 or older or those with a model number ending in T. This message comes from an older page on Sanyo's website, suggesting that one of two things happened. Either this number was phased out once the older models fell completely out of favor with Sanyo customers, or the number was eliminated as a casualty of the COVID pandemic.
The COVID possibility exists because Sanyo mentions that it has changed its hours for customers ever since the start of the pandemic. When this number was active prior to the pandemic, customers could call Sanyo from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern with questions, with major holidays excluded. After COVID, this number was apparently eliminated, and Sanyo reduced its hours to 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern, giving customers five hours fewer to call for assistance.
Sanyo's existing contact page does not mention this number, and the company's support page spells out clearly that the company no longer offers any support for these models. When you click on the customer support page on Sanyo's website, it offers a link for T models and older television models. However, clicking it takes you to a page that says Sanyo no longer offers agent assistance for models older than 2014. A customer's only option for service in that situation is to browse the FAQ section for general information about Sanyo televisions.
Obviously, I can't recommend that anyone should use this number to try to get assistance. To its credit, Sanyo has gone to great lengths to try to make this number as hidden as possible and keep potential customers from dialing it. Unless a customer hasn't called Sanyo in several years and only has this older number, it seems unlikely that they might stumble across it.
