Here is our latest tip for weaving through the phone menu to get to a real person the fastest: Calling this HP number should go right to a real human being
Here is how our research team describes the way the HP phone system greets you: You can speak to me in short sentences. How can I help you?
In fact, much of this information on this page is superfluous because this HP phone number is a direct line to a human being. The line is well-staffed and you should anticipate a very short wait on hold or none whatsoever, as long as you are calling during business hours.
We don't know of any phone menus you would encounter when calling either.

What are the hours and when should I call?

HP operates the call center for this 866-625-0242 phone number Mon-Fri 8am-6:30pm ET. The short answer is that you should call on a Wednesday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 12,632 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this HP phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like HP staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

The least busy day to call HP is Wednesday. The most busy day to call is Tuesday. Again, this is based on a sample of 12,632 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

The shortest wait on hold

We measured the shortest hold times to be on Wednesday. The longest wait in the queue on average occurs on Monday.

The best time to call

In summation, the best day to call HP is Wednesday. In this case, it's a no-brainer. Wednesday is not only the least busy day for calling this HP number, but it is also the day with the shortest hold times.
Once again, please put this information in perspective because this phone number has no phone menu or long waits. It generally gets picked up right away if calling during their opening hours. If there is any way, it will typically be very short.

Calling this HP Customer Number

Jan 23, 2024

Calling this number seems to be ineffective outside of certain hours, and it might be entirely useless. It's meant to be used by small- and medium-sized businesses, but it's unclear what HP classifies as each one. It appears that if your business is deemed to be too small, HP transfers you over to a different phone number that uses alternative business hours.

When I dialed this number, I was asked for the purpose of my call by the automated system, which told me I could choose from a few different options in question format. I asked for information about buying a laptop, and the system asked me how many employees my business had. I said zero, as I'm the only employee working for my business.

The system then began transferring me over to HP Home and Business, which it said operated on different hours and would require me to call back at a different time. I tried calling back again, but had the same unsuccessful result, as the system wouldn't allow me to remain with the number I had originally called.

Based on my experience, it's unclear how effective this number really is. On one hand, if this number is meant solely for larger small businesses, this would seem to be an effective strategy. The phone system doesn't allow for any wasted time with customers who aren't in charge of larger small businesses, and it makes sure that small business owners who manage several employees can quickly get the assistance they need.

On the other hand, there's no way to tell what HP considers a small business, and when it would move people over to the other number. If they're only doing it for very small businesses that aren't likely to operate outside of standard business hours, that would likely be an effective decision. However, if they're doing it for business owners in charge of larger groups of employees, that seems like an ineffective model.

The interactive system is also hard to gauge in terms of effective service. It seems fairly easy to navigate, as you can ask it anything, but it doesn't seem to provide an answer as to whether or not it will give you the help you need. It seems like it's just there to provide a starting point for potential service without really offering much in the way of real assistance.

Based on this experience, I'd approach using this number with caution. It might be effective for your growing business, but if you're not large enough for HP's standards, you'd be better off calling a different number and avoiding the middle man.
