Calling Pandora Radio was a very frustrating experience. Despite offering phone support by giving customers a phone number, it turns out that the company doesn't really offer any live support. Essentially, all you get when you call the number is a recorded message, and the same can be said of their online support. It is aggravating that there is no way to get real-time support or talk to a real person at Pandora.
I needed help because I am supposed to have a family plan, but despite my payments coming out, I am having trouble with multiple people using the account at the same time. Pandora has a number of different subscriptions: some that are available to all consumers and some that are available as add-ons or bonuses from companies such as AT&T. So, there are hundreds of reasons why people might call them for support. For this reason, I would expect them to have better support than they do. Once again, though, this is not the case.
When I first called this number, I was greeted by a recorded message that said, "Good day, you have reached Pandora Internet Radio." It then offered me several options. "For assistance using Pandora or for questions regarding your Pandora subscription, please press 1. For advertising inquiries, please press 3, or please visit help.pandora.com." Then, it said, "Or to speak with an operator, please press 0. To repeat options again, press star."
I listened to the options a second time to make sure I didn't miss anything and then pressed 1. This led me to a very long recorded message that cemented the fact that they would not help me in any way.
It said, "We provide email support 7 days a week and are committed to responding to you as quickly as possible. We are not able to provide any support online. We will not be able to answer any questions via the phone or voicemail." It then told me to go online to help.pandora.com to read information and if I had any additional questions to go online. After repeating the message a second time, it hung up on me.
I wanted to talk to someone, so I called back, and this time chose the talk to an operator option. To my surprise, you don't get connected to an operator, but instead, after a short pause, it starts all over again with the original greeting and menu options. I tried it three times, but it just circles you around.
In the end, I had no choice but to go online and work with the live chat. After you fight your way through the bot, this will get you to a real person. It isn't what I wanted to do, but Pandora clearly offers users no other choices.
