An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this AT&T phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like AT&T staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

The least busy day to call AT&T is Monday. The most busy day to call is Wednesday. Again, this is based on a sample of 36,709 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

The shortest wait on hold

We measured the shortest hold times to be on Monday. The longest wait in the queue on average occurs on Thursday.

The best time to call

Calling this AT&T Customer Number

Jan 11, 2024

I've had AT&T internet for over a decade now and have experienced very few issues. From time to time, there are service disruptions, but usually, they are related to the weather and stormy weather. Therefore, now that I'm thinking about getting cable services, it makes sense to just bundle it in with my AT&T services. The other day, I added up all of my streaming services and realized that it's time to step back and just buy cable again to help reduce my monthly expenses.

Because I haven't had an issue with AT&T for a while, I wasn't sure how long it would take for me to talk to someone. At first, I had some issues since this phone number is apparently not in use anymore. When I called, a male recorded voice informed me, "Thank you for calling AT&T customer service. The number you have reached is no longer in service. If you would like to place an order for one of our services or have questions about existing services, please call 1-800-288-2020." That caught me off-guard, but when I called this number, I was able to get straight to the AT&T voice assistant.

This time, I was greeted by a voice assistant that said, "Welcome to AT&T. Calls are recorded for quality. In a few words, what are you calling about?" I responded, "TV service," and the assistant asked me "What help do you need with your TV?" This time I tried, "Add TV service," and it asked me, "Are you calling to add service to an existing AT&T account?" I responded yes, and it stated, "I see the number you are calling about and used it to look at your account, is that the account you are calling about?"

Once again, I responded yes, and it asked me to wait before saying, "I just sent you a link where you can learn about availability in your area. Please say what you would like to do next." I didn't want the link, so I said that I wanted to talk to an agent, and it told me to wait a minute while it transferred me. It took a second, but almost immediately, I was connected to Alex who went over Direct TV options and promotions that I could take advantage of. He was friendly and easy to understand, so I would say that my experience with AT&T was decent.
