What Is TripAdvisor's Coronavirus Change or Cancellation Policy?

As the world emerged from a coronavirus pandemic, travelers booked more vacations to experience more of the world missed during the global quarantine. It's important to know the cancellation policies ahead of time but many properties don't have a uniform policy, so you must look in your reservation confirmation email or the booking history in your dashboard.

Tripadvisor was established more than 20 years ago after one of its founders became frustrated while planning a family vacation. Today, the company provides travelers in 40 countries with tools to make vacation planning easier. Events, vacation rentals, restaurant reviews and more can be found on its website. However, it was only a few years ago that coronavirus concerns halted travel and only recently life is getting back to normal. The chance of another pandemic erupting is small but it's a good idea to be prepared just in case.

Coronavirus Cancellation Policy

Tripadvisor's website doesn't have a set policy for coronavirus cancellations, the policy will depend on the property and the reservation package. Additionally, purchasing travel insurance is a good option to better protect non-refundable fees in case you must change or cancel your travel plans. You can also locate the cancellation policy with your booking. Call Tripadvisor customer service agents here if you have any questions.

Coronavirus Measures

Many businesses in the hospitality industry implemented safety measures once travel was reinstated. Travelers needed to be tested before and after travel which included a period of quarantine. Masks and other PPI were required even with social distancing. People who chose to be vaccinated were encouraged to have caution as not everyone had received a vaccination yet. The CDC recommended that people who were unvaccinated refrain from travel until they were fully vaccinated.

Hotels and other businesses in the hospitality industry also stepped up their efforts to fight the coronavirus particularly in the housekeeping sector. Cleanliness and sanitation efforts became more transparent within the properties and outlined in each company's website. The cleanliness efforts are still in place although facial coverings are no longer required in many locations.

From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What Is TripAdvisor's Coronavirus Change or Cancellation Policy? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible.
