How do I add my KTIN to my ticket on Southwest Airlines?

If you are a member of a trusted traveler program or a member of the military, you will get a known traveler number (KTN) that depending on which program you are a member of, will allow you access to Global entry lanes and/or TSA PreCheck security lanes without a big hassle. This article will help you to add your KTN number to your ticket on Southwest Airlines.

If you have a frequent flyer profile, for a TSA PreCheck at a participating airline, the booking process will be a lot easier and faster without all the hassle when you book your flight on the website of that specific airline ONLY. Moreover, your information, such as gender, name, KTN, and other personal and billing information is stored when using that particular site for future references and reservations.

How to Add your KTN to your Ticket on Southwest Airlines

TSA recommends that you contact the airlines and speak to an agent directly to add your KTN to your ticket to ensure it gets added to your reservation correctly. However, if you choose another way of adding your KTN, at least contact an agent to verify that the flight data matches exactly as you added it when applying for your KTN, including your name, gender, and date of birth. If any information is incorrect, you may not be able to receive TSA PreCheck expedited screening for your flight. Keep in mind that your trusted traveler card alone is not enough to gain access to TSA PreCheck as it must be shown on your boarding pass, while both your frequent flyer profile and your reservation must include your KTN, in order to receive expedited screening benefits. Just as if you enter your KTN in a redress field or enter it wrong you won't be able to access the TSA PreCheck.

There are a few things you should know about using a KTN:

• Previously booked reservations will not be automatically updated by adding your KTN to your frequent flyer profile.

• If you make a reservation with a travel agency or a third-party website and not directly on the airlines' website, your KTN may not be shared with the airline.

• Another thing that's important to note is that some systems won't accept your KTN when it's added to the "Redress" field.

• Your KTN will not be associated with reservations just because you entered it in your frequent flyer profile unless it is provided during the booking process. Therefore, even if you are using your frequent flyer profile, you should always remember to add your KTN when you book reservations.

• Finally, there are times when the airline system may remove your KTN when changes are made to your reservations.
