How Do I Report an Account on Soundcloud?
As a matter of policy, Soundcloud prefers that its users not report other Soundcloud accounts if at all possible, and to try to ignore them instead. However, there are situations it believes should be reported. These include spam accounts, abuse or harassment you can't ignore, the account of a deceased community member, a minor on the platform and imposter accounts.
There are a number of reasons why you might feel you need to report an account on Soundcloud, such as spam or harassment. This article will teach you when and how to do it.
Soundcloud Reporting Policy
Soundcloud advises its users to try to avoid reporting other accounts as much as possible. It asks them to simply try to ignore the offending account, and to use the Block tool to keep the person with that account from interacting with you. However, it does acknowledge that there are some circumstances in which an account needs to be reported.
Reporting a Spam Account
Spam is a frequent problem on Soundcloud, just as on any other online platform. To report a spam account, follow these instructions:
- Go to the Soundcloud site.
- Log-in to your account.
- Go to the profile page of the account you wish to report.
- Click on the horizontal dots icon in the upper right corner, under the profile picture.
- Choose the Report option.
- Select Report Spam.
- Click on Report Account.
Alternately, you can try to delete the spam comment. You will be given the option of reporting the account for spam then.
Reporting an Account for Abuse, Harassment or Impersonation
If you need to report abuse or harassment, you will need to file a ticket in the Help Center. When you do, you should provide the URL of the account you are reporting, your URL, links to the content you believe is abusive, harassing or demonstrating impersonation, and a short explanation of the situation.
Reporting a Minor on Soundcloud
Soundcloud does not allow minors on the platform. To report one, file a ticket in the Help Center. Include the URL of the minor's account and an explanation of how you know the minor.
Reporting a Deceased Soundcloud Community Member
To report the account of a member of the Soundcloud community who has passed away, you need to contact a customer service representative for help. Have the display name of the deceased person, a contact email address for you, a copy of the death certificate and a copy of your photo ID available. If possible, also include an obituary.
