Introduction

If your Robinhood account displays the wrong balance, you need to find out what is going on right away and do something about it. There are several different reasons why your account might display an incorrect balance, and each of them has their own solution.

What You'll Need

Remember, settlements can take up to two days to settle, and your account will not reflect the funds from them until they have fully settled. You should also keep in mind that the formulas used to calculate the margin interest rate can be changed by Robinhood without notice.

If you are trading for a company, and if other people at your company also have access to the Robinhood account, check with them.

See if anyone made any recent trades that you were unaware of.

Review your transaction history.

Look for pending transactions for recent trades that have not fully been settled yet, or for deposits that may not have fully gone through yet. They could explain a low balance.

Check also for issues with using margin that may have caused an account deficit.

If margin trades are the problem, you will need to deposit funds to cover any account deficit.

Look for transactions that you don't remember making, and that no other authorized user of the account has made.

If you find any, your account may have been hacked. You need to contact a Robinhood customer support representative immediately and ask them to freeze your account while you track down the source of the problem and fix it. Once you have done so, you will need to contact Robinhood again to get it unfrozen, which will require you to provide a scan of your ID, as well as scans of recent banks statements and possibly other documents to prove that you are who you say you are.

Click on the Account link in the upper right corner of the page and select the Log Out option to log out of your account.

After you log out, log back in again. If you are on the Robinhood app, close it and restart it again. It is possible that you are seeing the wrong balance because your device simply hasn't got the most recent information yet. Restarting will cause it to check for the latest data.
If this doesn't work, continue with the next step.

What Do I Do If My Robinhood Account Has the Wrong Balance? (Step 5)

Contact your bank and look for any bank reversals.

If your bank reversed a deposit you made to Robinhood for some reason, then your Robinhood account balance will be lower than you expected.

Conclusion

If you have any questions or need additional assistance, contact a Robinhood customer service representative for help. Robinhood does not offer phone-based customer service, but online customer service contact options are available.
