Can't Connect to the Internet or No Data is Available

It can be extremely frustrating to not be able to connect to the internet with your service provider or if you are able to get online, but your device runs so slowly you can hardly do anything. The good news is there are ways that you can fix some more common issues by yourself, fast and easy, so you won't have to go through the hassle of reporting the problem.

If you can't connect to the internet or there is no data available for use on your device, you can try performing the following troubleshooting tips to fix the problem.

  • First, make sure that MetroPCS even provides coverage in your area by locating the MetroPCS coverage map.
  • Power Cycle your device by shutting it down and then turning it back on again. This is the most common fix that usually works when there are issues with accessing the internet.
  • Check for software updates on your device. It is recommended that your phone or PC should be updated to the newest software versions always.

You can also try changing your network settings.

  • Set Airplane mode to off
  • Set Wi-Fi to off
  • Set the mobile data to enabled
  • Set all mobile data limits to disabled

You can Get Online, but the Data is Running Extremely Slow

This usually occurs when you go over your data limit and have no more high-speed or 4G data available. You can check your data usage by logging into your MetroPCS account online and checking your data usage or open the myMetro app on your phone. You will be able to view the amount of high-speed data usage you are allotted for each pay cycle, how much you already used, and how much you have left.

If you are out of high-speed data, that would explain the slowdown. Some people think that just because they have an unlimited data plan, they should run at top speeds all the time. But that is not true since how fast your device will run depends on the speed of your data and not the amount. If you want your phone to run faster longer, you can either buy more 4G LTE data or upgrade your plan to include more high-speed data.

If you go check the data meter and happen to find you still have more high-speed data left, try opening your phone settings and set the network mode to LTE/WCDMA/GSM. This might fix the problem.
