How Do I Change My Flight with Japan Airlines?

If you booked a flight with Japan Airlines but find you need to change it, you should be able to change your flight. The majority of fares are eligible for fee-free rebooking. As long as you rebook your flight more than 72 hours in advance, and your fare meets a long list of qualifications, you can rebook your flight online. You can also rebook your flight by phone, with no qualifications to meet.

No matter how well you make your plans, life sometimes gets unexpectedly difficult. If you booked a flight with Japan Airlines but your circumstances have changed, you may be able to change your flight. To learn how, just keep on reading.

Fares Eligible for Fare-Free Rebooking

You won't have to pay a rebooking fee if you have a Standard, Special, Saver, or Special Saver fare, unless the trip flies from Japan to New Caledonia. JMB one way fares, JAL Vacation Package fares, JAL Dynamic Passage fares, and award tickets are also not eligible for fare-free rebooking. You will have to pay the difference in fares if the new itinerary is more expensive than the old one, regardless of whether or not you have to pay the rebooking fee.

Changing Your Flight on the Japan Airlines Website

To change your flight online, your ticket needs to have been purchased on the Japan Airlines website and paid by credit card.

Your booking can't have a 9B flight number. It can't be the result of an upgrade. It can't have paid seat services.

You can't have an infant traveling with you, and your ticket's fare rules can't forbid reservation changes.

If your ticket meets all these criteria, and it is more than 72 hours before the flight, you can follow these instructions to change your flight online:

  1. Go to the Japan Airlines website.
  2. Click on the Login button in the upper right corner.
  3. Log into your account.
  4. Navigate back to the home page.
  5. Tap on the Manage Bookings button.
  6. Find the flight you wish to change.
  7. Choose the Rebook button.
  8. Follow the instructions for rebooking your flight.

Changing Your Flight by Phone

You can also change your flight by phone. When you call, have your ticket number, flight number, and departure date near to hand, as you will need them to make the change.

Contacting Japan Airlines

If you need any help changing your flight, or if you have any other questions, you can contact a Japan Airlines customer support representative. You can only reach one by phone. There are no online customer support contact options.
