Hilton Hotels offers comfortable rooms at great rates, and the hotel chain offers its own Hilton credit card that can be used not only at Hilton Hotels but anywhere American Express is accepted. There are times, however, when you may have dispute a charge on your hotel bill or your Hilton credit card bill, but don't quite know how. Disputing Hilton Charges

You can dispute charges associated with your stay at a Hilton Hotel location, or you can dispute charges that appear on your Hilton credit card, and how to do this for each is outlined below.

Erroneous Charges Associated With a Hilton Hotel Stay

When you feel there are errors on your bill for your stay at a Hilton Hotel, you must inform the reservation desk at the hotel either by calling the location or letting the desk clerk know in person at checkout or during your stay. Once it is confirmed the charge was in error, the hotel manager can reverse the charges back to your credit or debit card.

Disputing a Hilton Credit Card Charge

Hilton Hotels has partnered with American Express to offer a Hilton credit card with special rates for Hilton Honors' members. If you notice a charge on your Hilton card, you can dispute it by doing the following:

  1. Open Hilton's credit card website on your browser.
  2. Log into your account.
  3. Open your statements.
  4. Find the transaction that is erroneous.
  5. Click on the transaction to get as much detail as possible (such as date of the transaction, amount, location where the transaction occurred).
  6. Select "Dispute/Inquire About This Charge." This opens an inquiry into the matter.
  7. A hold will be placed on the transaction until the matter is reviewed by American Express and the merchant has been contacted.

Charge card disputes are typically resolved in 30 days, and if American Express finds in favor of the merchant, you will be responsible for the charge on your Hilton credit card. If the matter is found in your favor, the charge will be removed immediately following the finding.
