With Green Dot prepaid debit cards, banking is easy. The cards are available in all parts of the nation. Recharging is easy and it takes just a few minutes. There are a variety of methods that you may use to add money to your account.

Direct Deposit

If you receive government benefits, they may be sent directly to your account. Your paycheck, Pension, Supplemental Security Income, Veterans Compensation, and Pension, may be deposited to your card.

If you have a tax refund, it may also be deposited to your GreenDot card. If you choose to have your government benefits deposited to your GreenDot card, the whole amount has to be deposited to your card. To have money deposited to your card, you must give your employer or benefits officer your card's Direct Deposit and bank routing number. You can access them by logging into your account.

Bank Transfers

You can recharge your GreenDot card from your savings or checking account. Banks and credit unions allow you to transfer funds to other financial institutions through the ACH. GreenDot does not charge any fee to reload your card from your bank account. You may, however, need to pay the transfer fee imposed by the bank. The money should be transferred in one to three business days. GreenDot allows you to transfer up to $1,000.

You do not have to visit the bank to transfer money to your GreenDot card. You can recharge the card by logging into your bank online and following the instructions. Check with your bank to find out if there are any requirements that you need to meet. You need your routing number to transfer money from your bank account.

Reload @ the Register

The Reload @ The Register service allows you to recharge your card directly. The service is available to certain retailers. Some of them include; CVS, K-Mart, Walmart, and Rite Aid. When you are at a participating store, speak to the cashier and request them to add money to your card. The cashier will swipe your card and ask you for a cash deposit. The funds should be transferred in about ten minutes. You can add up to $1,000.

Checks

You can cash preprinted checks in certain Walmart locations and have the money applied to your card. You will be charged a check casing fee. If you are not sure of Walmart locations that allow you to cash checks, you can find them on the Walmart website.

Use Send Money Service

This service is a free and simple way to receive or send money through text or email. You have to click on a link that is sent through text or email to claim the money. It is automatically deducted from the sender's card and reloaded into yours. You must claim it within ten days. If you wait too long, it will be sent back to the sender. When using the Send Money service, you should note that GreenDot is not responsible for any errors that may come up when entering your phone number or email address. If the wrong person claims your money, you cannot get it back.
