Can Checker pieces move backward?

Asked a year ago
No, checker pieces cannot move backward. They can only move forward on the gameboard. The movement for checkers is restricted to diagonally advancing one space at a time. However, if a checker reaches the opposite end of the board, it can be "crowned" and becomes a king. Kings have special abilities, including the option to move both forward and backward, greatly enhancing their mobility and strategic potential. It is important to note that only kings can move backward, and regular checkers are limited to forward movement. This rule adds an additional layer of tactics and planning to the game, making it more interesting and challenging.
