I am a longtime resident of Framingham, MA ([redacted]) and have been renting out 5 investment condominiums in Washington, DC where I used to reside. In [redacted], I utilized the Taxact Website to file my individual tax return, resulting in a $[redacted] state income tax payment to Massachusetts and a $[redacted] "Unincorporated Franchise Tax" bill in Washington, DC for my business income from my investment properties, totaling $[redacted].88 with penalties and interest. My [redacted] Federal Tax Return also indicates a $[redacted] payment for the same income. Upon contacting the Washington Tax Revenue Department about this double taxation issue, I was advised to consult with Massachusetts tax authorities. I am seeking a refund of $[redacted] paid from my Santander Bank Account and appreciate your review and reconsideration of my [redacted] Tax Return. For further communication, please reach me at [redacted] or [redacted]. Thank you for your attention. Respectfully, Mikhak.

Hello, I am reaching out regarding my situation with a levy on my paycheck. I contacted the IRS for guidance on filing my [redacted] taxes and to address the levy issue affecting my pay. It seems the levy may be from the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, as the IRS confirmed it was not from them. I work for ABC Express Delivery in Springfield, Massachusetts, and the levy started on 5-18-18 for $[redacted].32, totaling over $[redacted] by 8-24-18. I am uncertain why this occurred as I didn't receive any prior notifications. If this levy is from the state, I am wondering if it can be reduced to the minimum amount and any excess funds returned. I am now covering full rent and other expenses alone since my daughter moved out. My physical condition, with three knee surgeries after working 28 years at FedEx, limits me to 11-hour workdays. I appreciate any assistance provided. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. - David W.

I have been making payments of $[redacted].00 online to an agency that I believed was the Department of Revenue (DOR), but it turned out to be a fraudulent entity impersonating the IRS. My bank account has been completely drained by this scam. I have been waiting for a response on my hardship case application for 3 months without any luck. I have evidence of mistakenly sending payments to the wrong place for 2 years. As a senior citizen, I am struggling financially, with the funds taken from me being essential for paying the DOR. I am now in debt and falling further behind every day due to this situation. I urgently require a payment plan to address this issue.

Subject: Issue with Federal Tax Refund
Hello,
I completed my tax return a few months ago but have yet to receive my federal refund. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this, I have received various explanations for the delay from the IRS. I was initially told there was missing paperwork from work and then later an identity issue, which was resolved with the Problem Resolution Office. However, I still haven't received my money and find the lack of progress frustrating.
I have confirmed with my workplace that all necessary forms were submitted and no employees reported tax issues. I have been in touch with my tax preparer at Liberty Tax Service, Chanel Williams, to inquire about the status of my refund, but have not received a satisfactory answer.
Please assist me in resolving this matter promptly as I am in need of the funds.
Thank you,
Joel F.

On September 20th, the Massachusetts Department of Revenue (MA DOR) received my [redacted] state return, where I was due a $[redacted] refund. The next day, on September 21st, I received a letter from MA DOR requesting more information. After verifying the PO Box provided in the letter and finding it suspicious, I decided to send copies of my IDs to a verified PO Box associated with the DOR online, possibly Box number [redacted]. It’s been four weeks since then, and I haven’t received any updates. I’m eager to know the status of my refund as I really need the money. If possible, could a representative kindly reach out to me via email or phone, so I can provide my SSN (starting with [redacted]-) to assist in locating the check or possibly issuing a new one? Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Best regards,

Hello, I'm Joshua S. Lewis. My accountant filed my [redacted] taxes listing my Massachusetts address. The returns went to 78 Florence Street, Worcester MA [redacted] Apt 2, my old address. I now reside in Philadelphia, PA, at [redacted] Glen Echo Road [redacted]. Concerned that my returns didn't arrive, I found my federal return at the old address but not the state return. I'm hopeful the Department of Revenue can help. Contact me at [redacted] or [redacted].

I recently received a letter regarding owing nearly $[redacted] in taxes from [redacted]. I have been struggling to gather the necessary information since receiving the letter. One of the companies I worked for during that year is no longer operating, adding to my confusion. I am perplexed by the fact that I did not realize I hadn't filed my taxes for [redacted], considering I received returns in the years following. I am puzzled by the situation and would appreciate guidance on how to proceed. Due to my work schedule, resolving this over the phone has been challenging. I would like to explore setting up a payment plan with the state of Massachusetts if necessary, as I am unable to pay the full amount at once. With my recent employment after a long period of unemployment due to a back injury, I am eager to address this tax issue promptly. Additionally, obtaining my W2 from the now-closed company poses another challenge. I would greatly appreciate assistance in resolving this matter. Thank you.

I believe my Massachusetts employer may have made an error by not withholding state income taxes for me, a Massachusetts resident, while I was working in New Hampshire in [redacted] and [redacted]. I contacted the person in charge and provided information from the DOR website, but she mistakenly claimed that taxes only needed to be withheld for work done in Massachusetts. As a result, I now owe a significant amount in taxes. I believe the employer is legally obligated to withhold these taxes and submit them to the DOR. Can I request the DOR to collect the unpaid taxes from my employer? What steps should I take to address this issue properly? Thank you.
Sincerely,
John F.

I was recently charged Massachusetts sales tax on a clothing item at the Savers thrift store in West Roxbury. I queried the tax as the item was women's hosiery from the store's small retail section, but none of the onsite managers could provide an explanation. I reached out to the head manager today and discovered that Savers, Inc., classifies socks and hosiery as "accessories," which subjects them to taxation. I explained that they are, in fact, clothing, not accessories, but the store manager mentioned that the products are classified by the corporate headquarters in Seattle, and they are unable to change the tax status. This issue needs to be resolved promptly.

I am seeking to obtain my daughter, Erin B.'s [redacted] W2 form. During the summer, she was employed at Sam's Deli in Eastham, MA. The previous owners have sold the business, making it difficult to access her W2 despite multiple efforts. Payroll was managed through an accounting firm, but Erin cannot remember her login credentials. As a result, she has not been able to file her taxes. I can furnish her SSN and any additional details upon your request. Thank you.

I received the following message but did not initiate this request. I am unsure if it was for my daughter C.O.'s tax return or mine, K.M. If related to my daughter, I will need to confirm with her. Below is the email I received:

I am looking to settle the tax I owe but I have been struggling to reach the Mass tax Connect phone line at [redacted] to make a payment. Unfortunately, calls disconnect after ten minutes on hold. Additionally, I am unable to create an account on your website to set up payment arrangements as my computer flags it as insecure and blocks access due to recent hacking attempts. To address these issues, could a representative from your department please contact me at [redacted]? Also, I am curious about any in-person payment options available, such as if there is a local IRS office where I can directly settle my taxes.

As a disabled veteran going through a challenging transition period, I am currently facing homelessness due to difficulties in life. One of the toughest parts of this struggle is the pain and stress caused by the separation from my daughter while I was serving overseas. Despite being ordered to pay support in FL, the situation became more complicated when the other parent moved to MA and did not terminate the support order, creating additional legal and emotional turmoil over the past decade. Unfortunately, I have not seen my daughter since she was 10, and she is now 22. Upon receiving letters from the organization at my former residence, I am reminded of my ongoing struggle to resolve this complex interstate support issue. I have researched federal opinions on managing disputes involving multiple jurisdictions, hoping for clarity and resolution in this challenging situation.

I received an income tax rebate, but the check is made out to both my deceased husband and me. Despite being told by the Department of Revenue that providing a death certificate would suffice, my bank is unwilling to accept the check as my husband's name is no longer on the account. I have attempted to contact the Department of Revenue multiple times, but the calls go unanswered, and I am unable to leave a message. This situation has left me feeling incredibly frustrated. Could somebody please offer assistance?
