When you set up a transfer, Truist automatically moves the money from your bank to the recipient in the amount specified. Sometimes, there is a need to cancel this automatic payment. Truist lets users cancel transfers in their accounts. Here are the steps to cancel an existing transfer in your Truist account.
Sign in to your online Truist account and click Transfers under My Accounts. This will bring you to the Transfer Details page. You can see a listing of all transfers that you have initiated from your Truist account. The status of each transfer will be In Process. If it is not, take action, as there is usually a time limit for canceling an electronic payment before you send it.
Go to your scheduled transfers. Select the one you want to cancel, then click Edit Transfer Details. This will take you to a page where you can edit details such as the amount and date of your transfer.
When you cancel a transfer in your Truist account, you'll want to provide a reason for the cancellation. The reasons will be available on the cancellation confirmation email and the cancellation history page in your Truist account.
If you have already initiated a transfer to the recipient, you can click Cancel Transfer in the Actions column for that transfer. When you click the Cancel Transfer, the system will present a warning message asking if you're sure you want to cancel the transfer. Click Yes to proceed with canceling the transfer. The system will confirm it has canceled the transfer.
After the message confirming Truist has processed your cancellation. You'll return to My Transfers page with the canceled transaction Truist removed from your list of transfers.
GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Truist Bank in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster.
