Fraud prevention helps save your identity and your bankroll. Two-factor authorization is one of the best ways to secure your account. This article will teach you how to set up a two-factor authorization for your TradeStation account.

What Is Two-factor Authorization?

Also known as two-factor authentication, two-factor authorization is a security measure that adds extra protection to your TradeStation brokerage accounts. It allows you to set up access through your mobile device when someone tries to log in to your account from an unknown browser or device. This means that even if someone has the right login information, they still won't be able to gain access to your account without the unique code sent to your phone after validating your identity. You can only use these security codes one time, so every time you try to log on from an unknown browser or device, you will be prompted to enter the code sent to your phone.

What App Does TradeStation Use for Two-Factor authorization?

TradeStation requires you to set up two-factor authorization to access your account. The platform recommends using Auth0 Guardian for this measure. When it comes to online security, Auth0 Guardian is a globally recognized leader. It is a mobile app that provides an enterprise level of security to TradeStation account holders. With two-factor authentication, your account is well-protected and your transactions are highly secure.

How To Obtain the Auth0 Guardian App

You can download the Auth0 Guardian app right to your Android or iOS device. Visit the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and search for "Auth0 Guardian".

How To Set Up Two-Factor Authorization with Auth0 Guardian

You will first need to set your phone as the secondary authentication device then follow these steps for the initial setup of two-factor authorization:

1. Open your web browser and navigate to the login screen on TradeStation.

2. Enter your username and password, then click "Log in".

3. If you are logging in for the first time, you will have to enroll which requires you to switch between your computer and your phone.

  • You should have already downloaded the Auth0 app to your phone. Click "I've already downloaded it".
  • Launch the app and allow Guardian to do its initial setup by recording video and taking pictures
  • A QR code will appear on your TradeStation dialog login, scan the code into the Auth0 Guardian app.
  • The app generates a recovery code that can be used in case you lose your mobile device. Make sure you keep this code in a safe place then check the box that says "I have recorded this code safely", and click the arrow below it.
  • The TradeStation dialog login will display "Congratulations", meaning you are all done with the setup process. Click "Continue".

4. A notification is sent to your phone. Simply allow the request for authentication. If you can't respond, try launching the Auth0 app, tapping "TradeStation", then entering the recovery code at the bottom of the screen.
