Is NET 10 the Cheapest Cellphone Service?

Net10 has, overall, average rates for its various cellular service plans. Its cheapest plans tend to be a little more expensive than comparable plans from many competitors. Its mid-range plans are about normal for the industry. Its plans in the 30 to 50 GB range tend to be a little cheaper than plans that offer the same amounts of data.

Net10 is a popular prepaid phone carrier with strong nationwide coverage. If you are in the market for a new cellphone carrier, you may be wondering if Net10 is the cheapest option. Comparing phone plan prices can be tricky because plans are often not exactly the same. However, if you read on, you'll find out that we've done all the hard work for you.

Low-Data Plan Prices

Net10's 2 GB plan costs $20 per month. Many other carriers' comparable plans are more expensive. AT&T charges $30 per month for its 2 GB plan, as does Cricket Wireless, Credo Mobile charges $50 per month for 3 GB. There are plenty of cheaper options, though. Mint Mobile charges $15 per month for 3 GB. T-Mobile charges $15 per month for 2 GB, as does Boost Mobile.

Moderate-Data Plan Prices

Net10's 5 GB plan costs $35 per month. This is right in the middle of price ranges for comparable plans. Verizon charges $55 per month for 5 GB. Republic Wireless charges $40 per month for that much data. However, Boost Mobile and T-Mobile both charge $25 per month for 5 GB. Mint Mobile charges just $20 per month for 8 GB.

Net10's 10 GB plan costs $40 per month. Verizon charges $65 per month for that much data, as does Republic Wireless. AT&T offers only 8 GB for $40 per month. Cricket Wireless and T-Mobile both charge the same as Net10 for 10 GB plans. Boost Mobile charges only $35 per month, though, as does Metro by T-Mobile. Mint Mobile charges only $25 per month for 12 GB.

High-Data Plan Prices

Net10 charges $50 per month for its 30 GB plan, $60 per month for its 40 GB plan, and $65 per month for its 50 GB plan. Many other carriers do not offer plans with so much data. Straight Talk Wireless charges $5 per month for its 25 GB plan. Credo Mobile charges $70 per month for a 15 GB plan. Republic Wireless charges $90 per month for 15 GB.

Many other carriers offer unlimited data plans in the $50 to $90 per month range. Net10 does not offer any plans with unlimited data.

The Takeaway

Net10 does not have the cheapest rates. It does not have the most expensive rates either, though. They are mostly average for the industry. The one area where they will tend to be the cheapest bet is for people who need 40 or 50 GB of data, but not unlimited data.
