After you receive a steady paycheck, you may want to set up recurring bill payments to manage expenses, such as rent and utilities. Recurring payments are convenient, and it's easy to start using them. Here are the steps to set up recurring payments with M&T Bank.

1. Log In to Your M&T Bank Account

Log in to your M&T Bank account to set up an automatic bill payment. If you don't already have one, visit the website and click Create Account. Click the Login icon at the top of the page and enter your login information.

2. Navigate to the Bill Pay Section

To locate Bill Pay, enter that phrase into the search bar on the homepage, then select Bill Pay from among the options. The Bill Pay page will open up. Click it to bring you back to the Bill Pay dashboard.

3. Add a New Payee

To add a new payee to your list of bills, click the Payees link in the main navigation bar. Then, tab on Add New Payee. Complete all required fields and save your new payee by clicking Save.

4. Enter the Recurring Payment Information

You should include all the information needed to process your bill payment. For example, if you are scheduling a monthly payment for your telephone bill, enter this into the application. While using this service, you may also choose to schedule future payments. Click Continue.

5. Select a Payment Source

To choose a payment source, start by selecting Payment Options. You can pay bills in different ways, such as transferring money from your savings to a checking account or paying online.

Once you have selected an account, you can make a one-time payment by selecting Make a One Time Payment or set up recurring payments by clicking Set Up Recurring Payments.

6. Review and Confirm the Payment

After entering your account and routing numbers, the next screen will review the information you have entered. You will see a list of your recurring bills, including the due dates and amounts.

Double-check the different types of transactions you will be made to ensure they are what you intend.

7. Save the Payment

You can save your payment by clicking the Save button. This will take you back to the Bill Pay screen.
