A recurring bill payment with M&T Bank can be helpful for those who can't pay their bills in full each month and want to spread the cost out over a longer period.

While it can be a convenient way to pay your bills, it is important to remember that if you need to cancel this service, you need to contact the bank where you set up the bill payments.

1. Log In to Your M&T Bank Account

To log into your account, you need to click the Sign In button. A drop-down menu will appear where you can select Sign In. Select the login box and enter your login details.

2. Click Bills and Banking

Selecting bills will take you to a screen with a list of your payees and their types. Scroll down to find Bills & Banking and click it. The next screen contains a list of all the bills you have set up.

3. Locate the Recurring Payment You Want to Cancel

Select Payment under Account Services from the submenu. You should see a list of all of your accounts with M&T Bank and their upcoming bill payments. Scroll down to find the account whose payment you want to cancel and click on it once.

4. Select Edit or Delete

When you need to cancel a recurring bill payment, you have two options on the M&T Bank website. The edit option lets you make changes to the details of the recurring payment, such as the amount and the date.

The delete option permanently removes the recurring payment from your account.

5. Confirm Cancellation

When you cancel a recurring payment, it's important to confirm the cancellation is complete. If you don't confirm it with your bank, it may return the payment to your account as a normal transfer.

6. Double-Check Your Account

The easiest way to double-check your account is to log in to Online Banking. You can go directly to Payment History, choose the appropriate payment and see if this recurring payment has been canceled. If it hasn't, you can cancel it yourself.
