Google accounts may be disabled when users violate the terms of service and other policies. This means you won't be able to sign back in to your account and use the services you've signed up for. You'll get an error if you attempt to sign in. Google may also text your recovery email address or send a text message telling you that your account is disabled. Don't worry, you can still recover your account and use Google services again. Continue reading for the steps on recovering a disabled Google account.
The first step to recovering a disabled Google account is to submit an appeal. You can do this by signing in to your account. To log in, just enter your Google email address and click Next.
When you send a request, Google will review your account to determine whether your account should be restored.
Type in the password and click Next. If you've forgotten your password, click Forgot Password and follow the instructions to reset it.
Note: It may still be possible to reset the password for a disabled Google account.
Since your Google account is disabled, you won't be able to sign back in. Instead, you'll receive a message that says your account has been disabled. If you think Google made a mistake, submit an appeal. To submit an appeal, click Start Appeal.
Check the email address and ensure it's the correct one. Then, click Next.
On the next page, you’ll have the option to explain your reason for appealing. Be as clear and specific as possible when describing why Google should restore your account. If you did not receive any prior warnings or believe someone else may have accessed your account, be sure to mention that as well. Once you’re done, click Next.
Before submitting your appeal, enter a contact email in the box. You won't be able to submit the appeal without the email address. Google will use the email to contact you with updates regarding your appeal. After typing your email, click Submit Appeal.
Wait 2 business days for updates on your appeal. Google will contact you using the email address you provided when submitting the appeal. You may consider downloading your data, just in case. To download, click Download Your Data.
Once your account is fully restored, you will be able to use it immediately. If your account was compromised, be sure to create a strong password. As much as possible, we also recommend you enable two-step verification to add a layer of security to your Google account.
Were you able to recover your account? You can help prevent future suspensions by strictly adhering to Google’s Terms of Service. Never share your login credentials with anyone, as they could be used for fraudulent activity. Most importantly, secure your account by creating a strong password using a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters. If you receive any warnings or notifications from Google about violations of its Terms of Service, take them seriously, as repeated violations may lead to your account being disabled.
