It can be a hassle to reset your AOL password, but it does provide you the opportunity to keep your account safe and updated. According to AOL, "Your AOL password gives you access to every AOL service you use. It's a good idea to update your password regularly and to make sure it's unique from other passwords you use."

Steps to reset your password:

To reset your password, you'll first want to go to the sign in page, input your username and press "Next." Below the password input box, click the link that says "I forgot my password."

If you have also forgotten your username, there are additional steps to take to reset your password. For this challenge, you'll need to go to the Sign-In Helper. It can be found by clicking "Trouble signing in?" on the login screen. To move forward, you'll need to input one of the following: mobile number, sign-in email address, recovery email address, or recovery phone number. After your account has been located, you can continue in the password reset process.

You will then need to prove your identity by confirming a verification code sent to your mobile device via text or a phone call. Once you've received the code, input it on the next screen, click "Verify," and complete the required puzzle. You're now able to input your new password.

If you no longer have access to your phone for verification, or if the online system is unable to identify you, you'll have to contact the Reset Password support team for further assistance. Agents can be reached Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM ET, or on weekends from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM EST. Although customer care can be reached in other ways, for security and privacy reasons, AOL can only assist with resetting your password via phone.

For your security, once you reset your password, you'll be logged out of all other AOL sessions you may have open on other devices. To avoid this, instead of resetting your password, you can click the grey link that says "I'll secure my account later" instead.
