How Do I Share My Screen on Zoom?

Zoom is a videoconferencing application that allows you to hold virtual meetings. The application has many features that make using it very simple.

You can either have one on one meetings or meetings with multiple participants. One of the Zoom application features involves sharing your screen with whomever you are having a meeting.

You can share a lot of content on your screen while you are in a Zoom meeting. You can share an entire desktop or phone screen, a specific application, a portion of your screen, whiteboard, device audio, content from a second camera, and even your mobile device screen.

On the other hand, you should check the Zoom for the prerequisites for sharing your Zoom screen. Only when you meet these conditions can you share your screen.

Sharing Your Screen

You can either share your screen before you start the meeting or while the meeting is happening.

The process of sharing your screen on Zoom before a meeting is as follows:

  1. Launch the Zoom application and ensure that you log in to your account.
  2. Click the ‘Share Screen' button on the main page.
  3. You will be prompted to input your sharing key or meeting ID.
  4. Once you input your meeting identifier, you will share your screen from the beginning of the meeting.

On the other hand, the process of sharing a meeting once the meeting is already underway is as follows:

  1. Launch the Zoom application.
  2. You will either start or join a meeting.
  3. During your meeting, you will see the ‘Share Screen' button located among your meeting controls.
4. You will have to select either the basic or advanced screen sharing options.

Basic options allow you to share your entire desktop, specific application window, whiteboard, or mobile device screen. Advanced options allow you to share a portion of your screen, music, or computer sound alone or content from a second camera. You can also share files from a third-party file-sharing site like Google Drive.

  1. You may have to enable certain features such as sharing your computer sound or sharing a full-screen video clip.
  2. Click ‘Share.'

Zoom will automatically switch to full screen when you share your screen to maximize the shared screen viewpoint. To exit sharing the whole screen, you can simply press the Esc key.

You can also disable the automatic full-screen sharing option in the 'Desktop Client Settings.' The setting is labeled 'Enter full screen automatically when a participant shares the screen.'

If you choose to share only a portion of your screen, you can modify the size of the screen you share by dragging or resizing the green border.

If you choose to share content from a second camera, you will have to click 'Switch Camera' located in your meeting screen's top left corner.

Sharing Zoom Windows

You can also choose to share Zoom windows when sharing your screen. Doing so can be especially helpful if a meeting participant is helping you use the application.

The process of sharing your Zoom windows when sharing your screen is as follows:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal.
  2. Go to the navigation menu and click ‘Settings.'
  3. In the ‘Meetings' section, ensure you enable ‘Show Zoom windows during screen share.'
  4. Exit the Zoom desktop client and then reopen it. You can also sign out and then sign back in.
  5. Click your Zoom profile picture and then click ‘Settings.'
  6. Click the Share Screen tab to ensure that ‘Show Zoom windows during screen share' is enabled.

If you have any issues sharing your Zoom screen, contact customer service.
