How Do I Report a Problem with My Time Warner Internet Service?

This article talks about what you should do if you have a problem with your Time Warner Internet service, which is known as Spectrum Internet. Instructions for determining if the problem is Spectrum's fault or not are provided, as are instructions for checking to see if anyone else has already reported the problem and for making the report yourself.

Like any other kind of Internet service, Time Warner's Spectrum Internet service sometimes experiences problems such as slowing and outages. If you need to report a problem with your Spectrum Internet service, just follow the procedures below.

Check to See Where the Problem Is

Before you report a slow Internet connection, check to see if your problem is with your wireless connection or with Spectrum's service. Just follow these instructions:

  1. Make sure you are connected to your wireless connection.
  2. Go to Spectrum's home page.
  3. Sign into your account.
  4. Click on the Contact Us link at the top of the page.
  5. Click on the Troubleshooting and Support link at the bottom of the page.
  6. Click on the Speed Test link.
  7. Click on the Begin Speed Test button.
  8. Switch to an Ethernet connection and run the speed test again. If your speed is faster with the Ethernet connection, you have a problem with your wireless connection. Spectrum cannot help you, as it is not a problem caused by them.

If you do not have any connectivity, switch from wireless to Ethernet. If you then have a connection, the problem is with your wireless connection.

Check to See if Anyone Else has Reported It First

To save yourself a potentially long wait on hold, you should first check to see if anyone else has reported the problem, so you don't have to. You can use the Down Detector to see if the outage has been reported. Just go to the Down Detector Spectrum page and check the Outage History. If you do not see your area reported, you can go ahead and contact Spectrum yourself.

Making the Report

  1. Go to Spectrum's home page.
  2. Sign in to your account.
  3. Click on the Contact Us link at the top of the page.
  4. Click on the Online Chat link, or call the number provided.

Alternatively, you can get the contact information from here.
