Did you apply for unemployment benefits with the Texas Workforce Commission? It takes about a month to determine whether you qualify for compensation benefits. Before approving a claim, the Unemployment Services reviews your general eligibility, past wages, and job separation, and this can take up to four weeks. TWC also contacts your employer to check the status of your employment. If the employer provides TWC with different information, you may be asked to provide additional information. Want to know the status of your claim? Check the guide below for the step-by-step instructions.
If you have already filed for an unemployment claim, log in with your previous user ID and password to view the status of your claim. Just enter your login credentials and don't forget to check the "I'm not a robot" box.
The Claim and Payment Status page lets you view details about your claim status. You'll know whether you are already eligible to claim unemployment benefits or if the Texas Workforce Commission is still reviewing your claim.
The status page also includes details on your claim type (extended or regular), the weekly benefit amount you qualify for, the maximum benefit you can receive, and when your benefit begins.
Also, be sure to check Next Date to Request Payment (still on the Status page) to start receiving benefits. You won't receive payment if you don't submit the request. If you are eligible to receive benefits, your payment will be sent to your account three days after submitting your payment request.

You can also check the status of your most recent payment on the Claim and Payment Status page. In the screenshot, no payments have been sent to the applicant yet, as the Texas Workforce Commission is still reviewing the claim. If you wish to see the payment details by week, just click on the link under Payment Summary to view more details about your weekly benefits payment.
If you are eligible to receive unemployment compensation benefits, note that Texas law requires the Workforce Commission to hold your payment for the first week (This is called The Waiting Week), but you will receive two payments the following week.
Those who have filed for unemployment claims in previous years can also view claim status on the same page. If you have a previous claim, check it just below Claimant Information at the top of the page to see details of your previous claims.
If you can't go online, call Tele-Serv at 800-558-8321 to know the status of your claim.
When eligible, TWC also sends you details about your weekly benefit amount, including the maximum benefit amount you will receive. The maximum benefit is the total amount you'll get for the entire benefit year. You can wait for TWC's mail, but a faster way to check the status of your unemployment claim is to call TWC directly or log in to your account. To avoid delays, ensure that you provide TWC with your correct Social Security number and wages. Do you still have questions on how to check the status of your unemployment claim?
