How Do I Get a Refund from Sheraton?

Sheraton Hotels, part of the Marriott family of resorts, offers two ways for you to get a refund issued once your payment has been issued. The simplest and easiest is to contact their Accounting Department through their Customer Service Hotline. There is also the option of requesting a repayment through the Marriott website, but this method is generally slower and more complicated.

Sheraton hotels are widely considered one of the premier hotel chains in the world. First founded in Springfield, Massachusetts, circa 1937, the chain has grown to include over 400 hotels and resorts in 70-plus countries.

Sheraton has built its reputation by staying dedicated to customer service and constantly looking for better ways to serve its clientele. A few of the firsts the chain has offered through the years have been an automated reservation system and offering a 1-800 number for direct guest access nationwide.

Becoming part of the Marriott family of hotels in 1998 has only expanded the services the chain offers. Many Sheraton hotels now offer exercise programs in partnership with CoreĀ® Performance and a connectivity hub called Link@Sheraton powered by Microsoft.

Like any business, though, occasional billing errors like overages, double billing, and other incorrect charges occur. It is when these occur that you may need to obtain a refund. Luckily, like most Sheraton services, requesting a refund requires minimum effort on your part.

Billing Errors Before You Check Out

The easiest way to deal with a refund is not to need one. It is always wise to check your hotel bill before you check out and contest any issues before you pay. Before payments have been processed, any needed changes can be made by the front desk staff at any Sheraton Hotel.

Refunds After Checkouts

Once you have paid your bill, getting a refund is slightly more complicated but still relatively simple. You have two options.

The first is to call Sheraton customer service and ask for the Accounting Department. There you will get an actual human that will handle your refund quickly and efficiently.

Your second option is to go to the Marriott website. You will need to sign into your account or click continue as a guest. If you choose the latter option, you will need to fill out a short form.

Once logged in, look under the Topic Tab for the Compliments/Concerns About A Stay option. Selecting this choice will open another options window, where you will need to click on Billing Accuracy.

This will open a new form where you will need to submit the hotel name, your confirmation number, the dates you stayed, a short description of the billing issue you have, and your contact information. You should be aware that regular reply times can be up to five business days.

Refunds Before You Check In

Sheraton Hotels handle the refunding of security and reservation deposits the same way they do billing issues for bills that have already been processed. If you have made a reservation and your plans have changed, you will need to follow the process outlined in the above section to receive a refund. The Marriott website notes that it can take up to 14 days for the repayment of security deposits to be released back to the customer's credit card.
