Auto payment makes it easy for people to manage and pay their recurrent bills, including rent, mortgage, car loans and utility payments. Delegating bill payments can relieve stress, allowing you to focus on other aspects of your life. Below is an overview of how to set up an auto payment for your bills with Goldman Sachs.

Setting Up Auto Payment

Goldman Sachs' customers can set up auto payment for their bills through the bank's online platform or mobile app. Each transaction is authorized through a checking/savings account, debit card, credit card or any account you hold with Goldman Sachs. Once your bill payment has been scheduled, Goldman Sachs will release the funds to the intended party directly through an electronic system.

Activate Online Banking

The first step in setting up an auto payment is to activate your online banking features. Visit Goldman Sachs' websites to create your online profile. You can also download the bank's mobile app to access its online banking services.

  • On the online platform, fill in all the relevant details, including your name, account type, address and account number.
  • Create a username and password to complete your online profile.

Bill Payment

  • While logged into your online banking platform, select Bill Payments on the main menu and choose Pay Bills.
  • Locate the bill you want to set up automatic payments for > Select AutoPay. If the recipient is not in your drop-down list, click on Add a Company or Person and fill in the relevant details of the recipient.
  • Select Manage AutoPay to open a new page and select the categories for payment, including personal pay, mortgage, credit card and utility bills. Other relevant information required includes the payment account, frequency, delivery date and duration of payments.
  • Once you double-check the recipient's details, verify your email account and set a reminder. You can choose email, SMS or call notifications to alert you when payments are due or when making payments > Select Start Sending Payments.
  • A popup confirmation message will appear on the screen displaying your AutoPay information > Close this tab and return to the Payment Center.
  • Details of your auto payment will appear on the right side of the page under Pending Payments.

How to Pay a Bill

Once you set up an auto payment for bills, all transactions are scheduled, meaning you don't have to log into your account to pay. However, for one-time payments, you have to authorize each transaction.

  • Log into Goldman Sachs' online platform and select Payments menu > Bill Payment.
  • From the drop-down list, choose the company or individual to make the payment to > enter the amount > select Send Money.
  • Select Add a Company or Person for new billers and enter their payment details, including name, category, amount and delivery dates.
  • Check the payment details and select Submit Payments or Make Changes if you have to correct details. This also applies to your predetermined list if the amount or recipient changes.
