What Are the Child Requirements on Emirates?

Emirates, a popular airline service, offers its customers the choice between flying in first class and flying in business class. Emirates also has certain requirements when it comes to those who fly with children on board with them. If you have any specific questions about the child requirements for those who fly on this airline, simply reach out to Emirates.

Child Requirements Related to Child Restraint Devices

While it is acceptable to hold a child who is two years old and under, you may wish to bring your own safety device. Emirates will provide you with a special seat belt extension if you desire to hold your infant on your lap during the flight. You can also choose to bring your own safety belt or seat. If you do, your child restraint device, which is also known as CRD, needs to have a label to show that it is an approved device to be used in an aircraft. It needs to be approved by any Joint Aviation Authorites (JAA), the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transport Canada.

The label on your car seat will be checked. The staff will also check to make sure you have brought the instructions for use. They will accept car seats that meet one of many safety standards not listed here. If it is found that your car seat does not meet one of these standards, you will be able to check it with the rest of your baggage.

Your child will have to use the car seat appropriately. Depending on the weight requirements and the weight of your child, your child will have to sit either rear-facing or forward-facing. The cabin crew at Emirates is available to fit your car seat according to label instructions. Car seats which need a three-point seat belt or shoulder harness cannot be used.

Rules Pertaining to Other Child Restraint Devices

There may be other devices you wish to use with your child. These include but are not limited to baby bassinets which can be provided for you and sleepers. Please be aware that the only approved sleeper is CoziGo (FlyBabee).

If you need any assistance about other child restraint devices, contact Emirates.

Child Restraint Devices Which Are Not Permitted

There are several child restraint devices which are not approved for use on a flight with Emirates. These include but are not limited to children's ride-on suitcases and/or leg rests, any form of seat-extension device, and sleepers which are not CoziGo (FlyBabee).

If you have any questions about what is or is not allowed pertaining to children's regulations on board an Emirates flight, reach out to Emirates.
