How do you send an ACH payment from your deposit account? What You Need Before Sending an ACH Payment

There are some things you need to gather before you try to send an ACH payment with your JP Morgan Chase account, including:

  1. The name of the person or company receiving the funds.
  2. The recipient's bank account number and the routing number for their bank.
  3. An address or contact information for the recipient.
  4. Your deposit account information where the funds will be drafted.
  5. Online access to your account to start the process.

Sending an ACH Payment From JP Morgan Chase

Once you have all the items above, you are ready to send your ACH payment. To complete the process, follow these steps:

  1. Log into your online account access through the JP Morgan Chase website.
  2. Click on "Pay & Transfer."
  3. Select "Payment Center" then "More."
  4. Select "Pay with ACH file upload."
  5. Verify your identity using the verification method you choose (text or phone call).
  6. Click "Next" to enter the verification code.
  7. Select "Choose a file."
  8. Add the file from your computer and select "Next" to validate the account.
  9. Keep the window open while the file is being validated. This can take several minutes to complete.
  10. You will receive notification the file is validated and it will show 100% on your screen. JP Morgan Chase will also notify you if there are errors on your account.
  11. Correct any errors listed on the screen, if any, save the file again, then upload the corrected file.
  12. Read transaction instructions prior to scheduling your ACH transaction.
  13. For files that are validated, go to "Submit."
  14. Check the status of your transaction by logging into your account and going to the "Payment activity page."
  15. After 30 days, the file will be deleted from your JP Morgan Chase account.

Other Important Information

Before making an ACH payment with JP Morgan Chase there are some things you need to know, such as:

  • Same day transactions must be requested before 8 p.m. EST.
  • You have 5 business days to upload reversal files.
  • ACH payments does not support recurring payments. All files uploaded are saved for 30 days, then are deleted.
  • Files must be uploaded using a computer. Files cannot be uploaded through the mobile app.
  • All ACH transactions are subject to the terms of use.
  • Payments that you have uploaded to your account and validated cannot be edited.
