It's easy to forget something in the car. People do it all the time. However, if you forget something in a rental car, it can be difficult to get your lost item or items back, because somebody may have driven the car with the items in it hundreds of miles away by the time you realize where you left them. If you have left something in your Budget Rent a Car rental then you need to file a lost and found report with Budget. To do so, just follow these instructions:

Filing the Lost and Found Report

  1. Go to Budget's home page.
  2. Sign in to your Budget account using the link at the top of the page.
  3. Click the Customer Care link in the upper right hand corner.
  4. Click the Budget Lost and Found link on the left hand side of the page.
  5. Click the Location Directory tab.
  6. Click on the state where you returned the car.
  7. Click on the city where you returned the car.
  8. Click on the Select link next to the store location where you returned the car.
  9. Look through the recently found items at the location you selected. If you see something that you believe is the item you lost, make note of the date you have to reclaim it by and the Item #.
  10. Click the Report Now button under the Report a Lost Item header.
  11. Fill out all of the text fields.
  12. Click on the Next button.
  13. Enter the remaining information, describing the item as completely as possible. Note the Item # if you believe you found it listed among the recently found items. You will be issued a Report ID number. You can use this to track the status of your report.

Checking Your Report Status

  1. Repeat Steps 1-8 of the above procedure.
  2. Enter your last name in the upper text field under the Check the Status header.
  3. Enter the Report ID # in the lower text field under the Check the Status header.
  4. Click on the Check Now button. You will be shown the status of your report.

Customer Service

If there is some problem filing your report, or if you feel it is not getting addressed quickly enough and your reclaim deadline is approaching, or if you have found something that the previous driver accidentally left behind, then you can call Budget's customer service. Budget's customer service is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can find the number here.
