Hello, I am currently troubleshooting a Kobelco E150 excavator equipped with an Isuzu BB-4BG1TRY-02 engine. I have detected an unusual knocking sound emanating from the front of the engine that I am unable to identify. The sound is not consistent with a valve or cam issue and appears to be internal. It resembles an exhaust noise but also has a metallic quality, potentially indicative of a bearing problem. I suspect it could be a combustion knock, although I have not been able to confirm this. The knocking began four months ago and has worsened over time, sounding increasingly damaging. I have conducted extensive research but have not found any common issues similar to mine. I am hesitant to dismantle the engine without more insight. Any guidance on common problems associated with this engine or suggestions on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated.
