I had a question about my Capital One Credit Card, but I didn't have my card with me. I left it at home, but I had some free time during my lunch break so I figured that I would call anyhow and see if I could get to someone. Capital One has thousands of cardholders, so I didn't know if I would be on hold for a while because people could be calling about their accounts, new accounts, or stolen accounts. It was highly possible that I would end up on the phone for a long time, but I decided to give it ten to twenty minutes and then give up if it didn't work out. 

When I first called, an automated voice called and said, "Thanks for calling Capital One. This call will be monitored for privacy and security purposes. Please enter the last four digits of your card number. Or press star for more options." I thought I knew the last four digits of my card number, but I guess I wasn't right because it asked me to put in the card number again and then it gave me some additional options. It said, "To try entering your card number again, press 1. To use your social security number to look up your account press 2. If you do not have a Capital One Credit Card, press 3. If your card is lost or stolen, press 4."

This time I was able to get through and the new options were, "Alright, which of these are you calling about? Your current account, the status of your application, or applying for a new account. You can also say, help me with something else." I said my current account and then it asked me for my social security number. That was enough to get to a customer service agent and within a few minutes I was able to talk to someone. The agent was helpful and while I circled at first through the phone directory, I was able to get help so I would call again if I had a future issue.
