My husband uses an old norelco and has no serial number but I can email a picture. I think it needs new blades. He has dementia and can’t remember blade number or how to replace.

We're really sorry to hear about your husband's situation. Changing the blades on a Philips Norelco shaver is usually simple and straightforward. The procedure includes removing the blade unit, replacing it with a new one, and then reassembling the shaver. Some models have a release button that you can push to remove the shaving unit. You can then replace it with a new one. However, without a specific model number, it's difficult to guide you on the exact blades needed and the method for replacement. Typically, the model number is situated on the back or bottom of the shaver. It would be better if you could try and find this information for specific guidance.

Can’t find serial number on old norelco to replace blades.

The serial number of a Philips Norelco device is usually located on the back or bottom of the unit. It could be engraved or in a printed box and typically starts with numbers followed by letters (eg. 08/16/491). If you can't locate the serial number, check the packaging, if you've kept it, as it may also be printed there. However, for blade replacement, you usually don't need the serial number. You need to know the model number of your shaver as replacement blades are model specific. Look for the model number (also located on the back or the bottom of the shaver) and use this to find the correct replacement blades.

What is comparable to the 7100 beard trimmer that is discontinued

The Philips Norelco Series 7200 is a comparable alternative to the discontinued 7100 model. Like the 7100, the Series 7200 trimmer offers self-sharpening, steel blades to effectively cut each hair and prevent skin irritation. It also includes the innovative Lift & Trim technology, designed to lift and guide hairs for a more efficient cut. The Series 7200 features 10 adjustable length settings, a precision trimmer, and a vacuum system to catch cut hairs for easier clean-up. Just like the 7100, it offers both corded and cordless use.

My 3960 shaver quit after 2 months. Should I send it for repair? If so, please send instructions.

Yes, your Philips Norelco 3960 shaver should still be under warranty if it quit after 2 months of use. Instead of sending it for repair immediately, here are some troubleshooting steps: make sure the shaver is properly charged. A full charge requires approximately 1 hour. If it isn't charging, try a different outlet. If the shaver still isn't working, then reaching out to Philips Norelco customer service about your warranty is recommended, and they will guide you through the process of having your shaver repaired or replaced under warranty.
