How Do I Assign My Whole Class Specific Lessons on Khan Academy?

It's very easy to assign a lesson from Khan Academy to your entire class. You can find lessons by browsing the lesson library, by looking in the Class Reports list, and by using the search feature. Assigning the lesson to your whole class involves selecting the lesson, a date and checking the right box.

Finding the Lesson

To find a lesson by browsing the lesson library, click on the tabs across the top of the Khan Academy website. Use the dropdown menu to select a grade level. From there, you can find lessons grouped in different sections.

You can also select lessons from the Class Reports list instead. Just select the Students tab then select Class Reports. Choose the Class Reports: All Progress option. The lessons are listed on the left.

You can also use the search feature to find lessons and use the dropdown menu to refine your search.

Assigning the Lesson to Your Students

To assign the lesson to your whole class, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the lesson icon if you found the lesson by browsing or searching. If you got it from the Class Report, select Main/Practice/Basic.
  2. Click on the Preview box in the upper left corner if you want to preview the lesson before you assign it.
  3. Select the Date option.
  4. Choose the date you want the lesson assigned.
  5. Check the Select All box to assign the lesson to all of your students.
  6. Click on the Save button.

On the date you chose for the assignment to be sent out, your students will see a heart icon next to their Libraries, telling them the assignment is available.
