How Do I Change the Date of My Amtrak Reservation?

Amtrak Reservation Change Policy

Amtrak does not technically charge any fees to change your reservation. However, it may charge other fees during the reservation change process. Changing Your Reservation Date on the Amtrak App

If you have the Amtrak app, you can make the needed changes by following these instructions:

  3. Tap on Modify Reservation.
  4. Change the date of your reservation.

If you are not able to see an option to modify your reservation, this means that your trip cannot be changed with the app.

Changing Your Reservation Date on a Desktop or Laptop

To make the changes online without using the app, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Amtrak website.
  2. Log in to your account. Your reservation details will appear.
  3. Click on Modify Trip.
  4. Select a new date from the Departs calendar.
  5. Click on the Next button.
  6. Confirm your changes and submit them.

If you do not have an Amtrak account and made the reservation while online as a guest, replace step two with the following steps:

  1. Click on My Trip under the Login link.
  2. Enter your trip's reservation number and your email address. You could also enter your telephone number instead.
  3. Use the code you are sent to get to your trip details, and then keep following the instructions from step three.

Changing Your Reservation Date by Phone

You can also change your reservation date by phone. However, depending on call volume, you may be on hold for a while.
