So how do I report a hacker to Valve? If you are wondering, then read on.

1. Visit Your Valve Software Account

When you log into your account, you'll want to go to the Account Settings page. You'll be able to change your password there, update your security questions and answers and check on any other settings that may be relevant to your account.

When you go to your Valve Software account:

  • Click on the Report a Hacker button.
  • Fill out the form by providing as much information as you can.
  • Create a Ticket

When submitting your ticket, you must remember to include your Steam ID.

  • Click Submit a Ticket. Select I'm Reporting Someone Else's Behavior from the drop-down menu.
  • Choose Hacker as your category, then enter the information you want Steam to review.

This will help Steam identify whether it should take action against hackers if players have reported them before — and if so, how many times.

2. Upload Screenshots

You can upload screenshots. Take a screenshot of the following:

  • The hack in action and a screenshot of the player's profile.
  • The game's scoreboard will show how many points the hackers have and how many they've contributed to their team's score.
  • Any chat history with this person, if there is any? This may include private messages they've sent to you or other players using harmful software.
  • If you're still having trouble catching them in action, try recording video footage directly from your screen instead.

3. Upload a Replay if Possible

Replays are extremely useful for reporting hackers. In addition to providing evidence of cheating, they also provide context as to what happened during the incident. For example, if you report a player who used a bot, then having an in-game replay would be helpful for Steam because it can see where exactly this person was aiming and whether it was consistent with the actual aim.

4. Include Helpful Information

Provide as much information to Valve. This includes a link to the profile of the hacker and a link to the game in question. If possible, include audio commentary from your mic during the game so Valve can hear exactly what happened.

Add any other information that may help investigate the situation, including:

  • The time of the incident.
  • The server you were playing on.
  • The name of the hacker, if you know it.
  • If they're not your team member, add their team name.
