In a nutshell: Losing your phone can lead to the risk of losing sensitive information and could be costly. Both Apple and Android devices have built-in features to help locate a lost phone. For Apple users, accessing iCloud or the Find My app lets you track, play a sound
Losing your phone can be both devastating and expensive. We use our phones for storing valuable information, such as passwords, contacts, and photos. Some people even store ATM PINs on their phones. When you lose your phone, you put this important information at risk, and it may take some time to recover access to applications on your phone, such as those used by banks. Thankfully, Apple and Android devices have built-in applications that you can use to locate your device. Did you lose your device? Here's what you can do to find it.
Do you have an iOS wireless device from Verizon? You can use the Find Devices app to find your lost phone. First, log in to your Apple account.
Use this option only if you don't have another iOS device to find your phone. However, do note that you won't be able to find a device using iCloud.com/find when the battery runs out, the device is powered off, or 24 hours have passed since the device location was sent to Apple.
If you have another iOS device or can use a family member's device, use the Find My app to find your lost Verizon phone. Be sure that Find My iPhone is enabled on your device. Otherwise, you won't be able to see it.
If you think the device is just nearby, consider playing a sound to help you find it.
This feature works with most Apple devices. You can check on a map for the location of your devices. Some devices can still also send their location even when turned off.
You can also put it in lost mode. Just turn it on so that the other person knows that the device is lost. Don't forget to include your phone number so that the other person can call you.
If you never find the phone, consider erasing the device to wipe out all your personal data. Simply tap 'Erase Device' and follow the on-screen instructions.
Do you have an Android device? Here's how to find your phone.
You can use Google to find your Android device. Log in first to start searching for a lost Verizon phone.
You can also play a sound if you think the device is just nearby. If there's no chance of ever finding it, you can also consider securing your device or factory resetting it to erase all personal data.
If you really still can't find your device, Verizon's Total Mobile Protection can be very beneficial, as it covers replacements for lost Verizon phones. You can get a replacement as early as the next day. To obtain a replacement, initiate a claim through Asurion and inform them about the incident involving your device. Compared to buying a new phone, enrolling your device in Verizon's Total Mobile Protection plan helps you save a significant amount of money. Did you lose your Verizon? Refer to the steps above and contact Verizon Support today to file a claim and get a replacement.
