Introduction

Sometimes, unforeseen circumstances can require all your money, leaving you unable to pay your bills on time. Fortunately, your AT&T does not have to get canceled as a result, because you can make a payment arrangement with AT&T to avoid service interruptions. You have a few different options for setting one up. However, doing so online is the easiest and least expensive method.

What You'll Need

Payments begin processing at 12:00 am on the scheduled date.Payments scheduled for after your original bill's due date cannot be canceled or changed. If you use AutoPay, you must pause it for the current billing period.Late fees may be charged as a part of any payment arrangement. If you set up your payment arrangement by calling or using the chat feature, a convenience fee will be charged.Even with a payment arrangement, you may still receive notices about possible account suspension. These are sent automatically, and do not mean that your payment arrangement has been canceled. If you miss one of the arranged payments, your service might be suspended immediately, with no warning given. If this happens, you may have to pay a reconnection fee to get it activated again. You might not be allowed to use certain methods for payment with your payment arrangement. This depends on the details of your payment history.

Go to the AT&T home page.

Click on the Account link in the upper right corner.

Click on the Sign in Link in the drop down menu.

Enter your information on the Sign In page and click on the Continue button.

Check the payment calendar.

It will show you all of the dates that you could qualify for. If you do not see any dates available, you are not eligible to make a payment arrangement.

Choose one of the available dates to make your payment on.

Choose a payment method and enter all other required payment information.

Click on the Continue button.

Review the details of your payment arrangement.

Remember, once you agree to this arrangement, you are committing to making the payment on the new due date.

Click on the Submit button.

You will be taken to the payment status screen.

Take a screenshot of this screen to record your confirmation number.

Alternative Method One: Make a Phone Call

You can also set up a payment arrangement by calling AT&T directly at 800-288-2020 and talking to a customer service operator. However, if you use this method, you may have a lengthy hold time and you will be charged a convenience fee.

Alternative Method Two: Use the Chat Feature

Finally, you can use the chat feature on the AT&T home page to set up a payment arrangement. Your hold time will probably be less than with the phone method, but you will still have to pay a convenience fee.

Conclusion

With three different ways of setting up a payment arrangement, you should easily be able to keep your AT&T service on while you sort out your financial issues. Just be sure to select a new payment date that you can definitely make your new payment on.
