If you do your banking with M&T Bank and need to transfer money to an account you have at another bank, you can easily do it with a bank to bank transfer. Before you can make the transfer, though, you will need link your external bank account to your M&T Bank account. Fortunately, that's pretty easy to do. To send money from M&T Bank to somebody else's account at another bank, you need to make a wire transfer.
The external bank account you transfer to must be a personal account. Business accounts are not eligible for bank to bank transfers.You can transfer money from your M&T Bank Checking, M&T Bank Savings, or your M&T Bank Money Market accounts.You cannot have more than $2000 worth of transfers sent or received in a single day and not more than $5000 in any 30 day period.You cannot schedule recurring transfers. Each transfer must be scheduled individually.Bank to bank transfers should finish within three business days of initiation.Wire transfers are only available to commercial banking customers. They can only be done in person, you cannot send one online.When you make a wire transfer, you need the recipient's name, address, and bank account number and their bank's CHIPS/ABA number (for a domestic transfer) or SWIFT code (for an international transfer).
