You need to add a debit or credit card to your Airbnb account to cover the cost of your reservation. If you are an Airbnb host, the card is also used to receive payouts. Also, Airbnb uses your credit card information to verify your identity. You can add a credit card at any time, or when you make a reservation. Credit cards are automatically saved to your account, but Airbnb users can update their credit card information or manage payment methods. If you wish to update your credit card, read this helpful guide.
Enter your mobile number or log in via Google, email, Apple, or Facebook. Then, tap Continue.
Click the three horizontal lines beside your profile photo, then choose Account Settings from the options.
If you wish to add another payment method or have not yet added a credit card to your Airbnb account, proceed to the next step.
Wait for the Add card details pop-up to appear. Then, enter your credit card details. Make sure all of them are correct before clicking Done. If you want to remove a payment method, proceed to the next step.
Go back to your Account Settings, then click on Payments again. Then tap Payment Methods.
Simply tap Remove to remove the credit card saved on your Airbnb account. However, note that you won't be able to remove a payment method for a card used on an active or pending reservation. If you have already completed the reservation, wait 14 days before removing the payment method. Airbnb users also can't remove a payment method if the host requested a reimbursement and Airbnb is still checking it.
Do you have an Airbnb gift card? Redeem it by following the steps below.
Airbnb gift cards can be either physical or digital and can be used to purchase an Airbnb reservation. If you have the physical card, we recommend adding the balance to your account ASAP. Gift cards are like cash; if you lose the physical card, you lose the funds on it. One of its advantages is that it never expires, so you can use the balance at any time in the future.
Enter your PIN and click "Redeem Gift Card". You will be given the option to add the funds to your account. If the funds on your gift card are less than the total cost of your reservation, Airbnb will use the payment method you added. Note that you need to add a payment method first before using an Airbnb gift card.
To check the available funds on your gift card, simply go back to Payment Methods and choose gift card to view the balance. If you cancel the reservation, the gift card balance is refunded to your account.
Note that Airbnb users with credit or debit cards based in some countries may not be able to add a payment method to their Airbnb accounts. You can still use the same card to pay for the reservation, but you can only do this upon checkout. In addition to credit cards, Airbnb users can use coupons for an extra discount, but note that the funds applied to the booking are non-refundable. If you cancel, you forfeit the discount.
