One of the many, many hassles of moving is transferring all of your services over from your old address to your new one. Fortunately, if you have AT&T wireless service, the transfer is pretty easy, and you should be able to quickly get your service on in your new location not long after you get there yourself.

What You'll Need

Make sure to pack up your AT&T wireless internet equipment when you move, to use at your new address. Unless, of course, the company tells you that you need new equipment and have to return the old stuff. If you do, they will inform you as part of the process below.In most cases, AT&T will waive a new activation fee when you transfer your service.You won't be able to update your billing address if you opened your account less than 30 days ago.

If you want to transfer your residential AT&T wireless internet or phone service to a new residence, continue on with step 2 below.

If you want to transfer a business wireless or phone service to a new location, there can be special complications to consider. Call AT&T Customer Care and talk to a live agent to find out how to transfer your business service to a new location.

Sign into your AT&T account.

Go to the AT&T online service moving page.

Enter your new address in the text box under the header "Tell us where you're moving."

Click on the check availability button.

AT&T will check to see if your new address is within its service area. If it is not, you will not be able to transfer your AT&T wireless service to your new location.

If service is available at your new location, follow the prompts to move your service.

You will be given a chance to upgrade to a new plan at this time, if you wish.
You will also find out at this time whether you can self-install your new service, which is the fastest option, or whether you need to make an appointment to have a technician come and do it for you. If necessary, schedule an appointment for a technician to come and set up your new service.

Select a date to cancel your old service and begin service at your new location.

Go to your AT&T customer profile.

You will need to change your billing address, too.

Scroll down until you find the "My linked accounts section."

Locate the billing address you need to update and click on the Edit option beside it.

Follow the prompts to update your billing address.
